Building Up Youth In
Dominican Republic
Our Work
What's the issue?
In the Dominican Republic, 41% of population live below poverty line. (1)
Public schools poorly resourced (low 2.5% of GDP allocated to Education). (2)
Boys have little to no access to after-school programs, are likely to drop out of school (40%) and engage in substance abuse — which dramatically limits their career opportunities and future success.
Program Mission:
Educate, mentor and inspire underserved boys to become productive and responsible members of the community.
Program Mission:
Educate, mentor and inspire underserved boys to become productive and responsible members of the community.
Why boys?
-
Boys need guidance to mature into responsible men, husbands, fathers.
-
For Dominican girls to move past stereotypical roles they need support from boys, men.
-
There is already an established, well-funded program for girls.
In the end, family is about living together and aspiring to achieve common goals.
What we do?
InspireDR provides free after-school program that teaches life and career skills and values, so boys in the Dominican Republic can mature into responsible men, husbands and fathers.
Since 2015, we and donors like you have helped more than 150 boys on their path toward being productive and responsible members of the community.
How we do it?
We utilize positive discipline, which rewards on-time attendance, creativity, mutual respect, positive attitude and teamwork.
Good marks are rewarded with opportunities to participate in projects like (acting, DJ & music production, improv, kiteboarding, photography, surfing, summer camp).
The results are often incredible!
